The SP series pneumatic sensors are precision-crafted devices designed to provide accurate and reliable web guidance for a wide variety of materials, particularly opaque and clear films. They are specially engineered for use with Fife's pneumohydraulic power units and control systems, thus ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
The first group comprises the SP-1, SP-3259, and SP-7171 sensors, known for their accuracy, durability, and flexibility. These sensors boast black anodized aluminum bodies for enhanced robustness, with the SP-1 sensor being the largest of the trio. The SP-3259 and SP-7171 differ in air supply and signal porting, making them ideal for use in restricted spaces. All models in this range are available as corrosion-resistant assemblies, reinforcing their longevity and service life.
The second group includes the SP-2317 and SP-2633 sensors, ruggedly built for physically demanding applications. The distinguishing feature of these sensors is their sensing gaps: the SP-2317 has the widest sensing gap of 2.25” (57 mm) in any standard Fife pneumatic sensor, while the SP-2633 features a 1.0” (25 mm) sensing gap. Constructed from black anodized aluminum, these sensors can be optionally availed as corrosion-resistant assemblies. Notably, both sensors are intrinsically safe and designed for reliable operation in hazardous areas where combustible gases are present.
The final group consists of the versatile SP-5, SP-11, and SP-12 sensors, which are particularly suited for guiding most types of clear and opaque webs. The SP-5 is equipped with a built-in 0.05” (1.27 mm) dead band for guiding webs with uneven or ragged edges, while the SP-11 and SP-12 are tailored to guide all varieties of smooth-edged webs. These sensors, built with black reinforced nylon bodies and natural nylon inserts for air supply and signal recovery, are resistant to most solvents and solutions but susceptible to phenols, formic acid, strong mineral agents, and strong oxidizing agents. Just like their counterparts, these sensors are intrinsically safe, providing reliable operation in hazardous environments where combustible gases may be present.
Across all groups, the SP series pneumatic sensors demonstrate a blend of robustness, flexibility, and safety, making them a reliable choice for various web guiding applications.
